I simply called in to ask questions about weight loss options/coverage regarding my insurance and the lady that answered was not pleasant and had the nastiest tone. 1/10 I do not recommend. The foundation is set by the first impression whether I am in person or on the phone.

My wife was under the care of Dr. Angelia Casteel for Graves’ disease, and our experience was deeply frustrating, concerning, and in our opinion, medically mismanaged. Despite being trained in endocrinology, Dr. Casteel demonstrated a troubling lack of understanding in how to properly manage and monitor a patient with this condition. From our very first visit, we clearly stated that our goal was to move toward a thyroidectomy, not long-term medication. Yet Dr. Casteel repeatedly ignored that treatment plan and instead pushed a long-term regimen of high-dose methimazole (50mg daily) without a clear path forward. She later acted as though surgery was never discussed, even though we had been upfront from the beginning. This left us feeling dismissed and misled. Whether this was due to miscommunication, negligence, or a financial motive to prolong care through copays and follow-ups, we do not know for sure. What we do know is that Dr. Casteel failed to order complete thyroid panels, especially Free T3, which is crucial in the treatment of Graves' disease. She also failed to monitor critical safety labs like liver function tests and CBCs in a timely manner, despite prescribing a high-risk medication. When we finally pushed for these labs ourselves, they showed my wife was biochemically hypothyroid and clearly overmedicated, explaining her increasing fatigue and worsening symptoms. When I, as her husband, respectfully advocated for her care, I was met with resistance and defensiveness. Dr. Casteel insisted that only TSH and Free T4 mattered, which contradicts well-established clinical guidelines that emphasize the importance of Free T3 monitoring in hyperthyroid patients, particularly those with Graves’. It was only through our own efforts, along with support from our primary care physician, that we were able to get a second opinion and begin correcting the course of treatment. This review is not meant to be spiteful, but to serve as a serious warning to other patients and families. Graves’ disease requires attentive, evidence-based care. In our experience, Dr. Casteel failed to meet that standard. Beware of overtreatment, dismissive behavior, and a lack of appropriate follow-through. Patients deserve better. Update(7/30/25): After posting this review, I was contacted directly by Dr. Choe, the head of the practice. He acknowledged our concerns and stated that the matter is being addressed internally. I appreciate the fact that he took the time to follow up and take the situation seriously. If you are seeking care at this practice, I recommend requesting Dr. Choe himself or one of the other providers. Based on our experience, I strongly advise others to be cautious with or avoid Dr. Casteel entirely.
