Nurse Practitioner Kayon Forrest-Gongasingh truly stands out as an exceptional provider. Having dealt with chronic health issues for most of my life, I’ve interacted with countless doctors and medical professionals, and Kayon was one of the most attentive and compassionate I’ve ever met. She took her time, listened carefully to my concerns, and made me feel genuinely heard and valued. This was my first visit with her, yet I immediately felt comfortable and supported. Kayon is incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and a rare presence in today’s medical field. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a provider who truly cares. Thank you, Kayon, for your compassion, expertise, and outstanding bedside manner.

Nurse practitioner Kayon Forrest-Gongasingh was one of the best providers in the medical field that I have ever dealt with and due to my ongoing illnesses for most of my life, I have seen MANY doctors, nurses, hoapital staff, etc. She spent a very good amount of time listening to my concerns and issues. She was kind, treated me like I matter and genuinely cared and listened to every word I had to say. This was also my first visit with her. I felt very at ease with Kayon and could not recommend her enough. She is knowledgeable and a bright light in the medical field. If you have the opportunity to see Kayon jump on it because people like her do not come around often. Thank you Kayon for your wonderful bedside manner and for all of your knowledge and help!

I have been an Endocrinology patient of Albany Med group for over 20 years. I used to drive almost 2 hours from Poughkeepsie to Albany for my diabetes appointments. My first pregnancy with them was fine. My second pregnancy left me wanting and angry. When I first contacted the office to notify my providers of the new pregnancy, there was 0 communication to my providers and they left my newest appointment to be my 6 month follow-up (typically I see my providers every 3-4 months). I was left to deal with the quickly changing insulin needs of 1st and 2nd trimester on my own, including when I spiraled into a dietary ketoacidosis. 3 months shy of delivering and two weeks after one of my appointments, I received a letter in the mail notifying me that my doctor would be leaving the practice. I began making arrangements to find a new provider closer to home, however I could only book a new appointment 8 months out in November. I contacted AMC to see if there was a way to bridge the gap, and they assured me based on my history with AMC they would. Megan Hogan (PA) worked well with me, and was flexible in accommodating my need for telephone/telehealth appointments. However, everything fell apart 6 weeks after delivery. I was induced at 36w instead of 37w for LGA baby and pre-eclampsia. My post-partum diabetes follow up was supposed to be a phone appointment, since baby was still nursing every 1.5 hours (I was maybe 4 weeks post-partum and still recovering from a 3rd degree tear). When the office contacted me to verify I could still make my in-person appointment, I corrected them and said the appointment was supposed to have been phone/virtual. The office responded that I must come in, and I responded there was no way for me to physically make the appointment. Given that, the appointment was then canceled and I have been in-between providers and without an Endocrinologist for 4 months despite AMC assuring me they would not leave me in a lurch. After 25 years with Albany Med, I feel so hurt to have been allowed to fall through the cracks when I needed help the most. This is just bad medicine.

My Doctor just moved to this facility. She is by far the best endocrinologist I’ve ever came across in my whole life! She responds to me quickly through portal. She helped me get medication when my insurance would not approve it. ( Insurance wanted me on a different medication than what I’ve been taking for years) I’m sorry, but my doctor knows better than my insurance company. I will be seeing her at the new location tomorrow. I’m sorry that all of you on this posting has had bad luck with endocrinologist. If any of you are seeking an endocrinologist. Dr. Susan Demerest is the best endocrinologist I have ever met hands-down!! I almost forgot to mention she also takes her time. She talks to you. She doesn’t rush you out the door and those are key factors for me when I am getting a doctor. I have been a patient of hers for many years and I will continue to be her patient until the day that she leaves the practice for retirement.

Really the worst experience I have ever had with a practice. I was told that they only treat endocrinology do not diagnose it. It took 9 months of back and forth and 2 canceled appts to be told this. I would rate a zero if I could.
